We would carve blazing trails
into the clouds as we soar
to sail among the stars, burning
scarlet passion into the orange 
glow of heaven’s sunset;
if she would let us be. 

Would she join me in bringing colour 
to the pale-faced moon, and set the
night ablaze lost in a lover’s haze? 

and would she hold me close?
pressing her breath against
my body, exhaling the cosmos
to my skin—

maybe then will I be stellar,
incandescent enough to
be an envy among celestial
souls.

and would she kiss me?
maybe then I will see the universe
beyond the vision
of my own human eyes—

as we float in 
the vastness
of space,
of nothing.

Clothe me with words
your pulsating heart
writes;

clothe me like poetry—
   a shell of brevity,
of resonance

clothe me like prose—
  a shell of structure,
 of  character

shower me with spilled ink
that drips with love
 
 to hide my nakedness,
my vulnerability,

and with each passing
instant;

I will soon be whole.
